This MK109 complete upper receiver assembly is compatible with any mil-spec lower receiver, converting your firearm to a long-stroke gas piston action. It features a BCG complete with a steel operating rod and piston, similar in principle to an AK. It also has a SB Tactical SBM4 pistol brace with a Mil-Spec, 6-position buffer tube and a QD sling point.
Additional features of the ID Di include a NiCorr-treated LWRCI DI gas block and tube, Magpul MOE plus grip and Magpul PMAG, and fully ambidextrous lower controls. This model has a 10.5" barrel, black finish, rail panels, and hand stop. The 300 AAC Blackout was designed to achieve energies like the 7.62x39 Soviet in an AR16 while using standard AR15 magazines at their full capacity. The 7.62 Soviet's cartridge taper prevented reliable feeding in AR magazines and created wear on the bolt. From the 14.5in barrel of the AR15, the 556 round has an effective point target range of 500 yards. The bullet has significant drop, drift, and energy loss at that distance.

The only down side would be the barrels are 4140 so I would guess they won't hold up to high round counts. But at their price point I can buy a complete upper for the cost of a barrel from other name brands. I used a Leupold 1-4x HogPlex scope on both uppers as well. Given that one barrel was shorter than the handguard I had available, both were shot with SAS'sblast diverterand will likewise share mySAS Reaper Tisuppressor when applicable. All firing was done from aCaldwell Stingershooting rest at 50 yards for groups and through aCaldwell Ballistic Precisionchronograph at the recommended 10-foot distance.
This starter kit intentionally does not come with a handguard or a muzzle device and is not shipped with a charging handle or a BCG. This list definitely should be updated to include gas piston systems. Primary Weapons Systems sells a complete upper exclusive on Brownells that is competitively priced compared to the others on this list, but you get a far superior action.
To me and ME ONLY the 300 BLK is just a pistol cartridge that shoots rifles bullets. Yes I can lob some in to long range targets but its still just a pistol cartridge. I think as a hunting round it is limited to range because of its lower velocity.
I don't see to many hogs killed past 200 yards with it. 16-inch 300 Blackout upper $449 at Palmentto State Armory. Again, this is a jack-of-all-trades carbine option, with exceptional build quality. The one drawback to Diamondback's 300 Blackout upper, no bolt-carrier group or charging handle.
